Education

Indonesia’s forestry estate is roughly 92 million hectares of forested land, constituting about 53% of the country’s total land area. The largest extractive forestry companies manage up to 1 million hectares each and are powerful drivers of deforestation.
We aim to match their scale and reverse the damage.

"Less than 1% of the world's surface is freshwater. The Sumatra Merang Peatland project at its core is a water conservation project. It's protecting a critical freshwater ecosystem that can absorb up to 8,000 cubic meters of water per hectare of peat. In the Sumatra Merang Peatland project the primary restoration activity is hydrological management in restoration. By building peat compaction dams, we are bringing water back into the ecosystem. As a result, we're able to restore degraded land and generate carbon credits at a large scale—unprecedented in the world of restoration to date."
